Does anyone need another acronym to add to their vocabulary? Absolutely not. But people love an acronym. There are many acronyms that come with caravanning and camping, and it does help to be on the money when you see them. We will list as many as we know, but please let us know if we have missed any below.
ATM - Aggregate Trailer Mass. This refers to the total weight of the caravan, including all its contents, when it is loaded and ready for travel.
TW - Tare Weight. This is the weight of the caravan when it is empty and ready for use, without any of its contents.
GTM - Gross Trailer Mass. This is the total weight that the caravan can carry, including both its own weight (the tare weight) and the weight of all its contents.
